Next Generation Fiber Structured Cabling and Migration to 40/100G

The new high speed Ethernet standards, 40GBASE-SR4 and 100GBASE-SR10, will require a change in the fiber cable plant. Legacy permanent links using single fiber connectors will not migrate to these new higher speed channels since the new standards rely on pre-terminated plug and play cabling based on the MPO connector and multi-fiber trunk cable and patch cords. In this session, Panduit examines the media and connectivity solutions needed to ease the migration for 10 Gigabit Ethernet to 40 and 100 Gigabit Ethernet and examines the realities and pitfalls in doing so. Also presented are standards based connector polarity and gender issues and the problems that are created, and how to mitigate these problems while saving capital expenditures and money.
